just in case anyone actually looks at my journal...

I only use this account to read fic. I haven't even posted the couple fics I have written because I'm just too lazy. I occasionally friend people in case your journal entries are f*locked.

My main fandom is Supernatural. I also love Harry Potter, Sherlock, True Blood, The Hunger Games, and many other TV shows and movies. If you like these things, please feel free to follow me on tumblr: jensenackling.tumblr.com

It seems like almost everyone has a good story about how they were first introduced to Harry Potter, so I thought I might as well share mine! I've always loved books and stories.

Before I could read, I would have my mom read me a book again and again until I memorized it, and then I would turn the pages and pretend to read. I finally learned to read when I was about four, and I was happy that I didn't have to rely on other people for stories any more. I moved to Minnesota the summer I turned seven, and for a while I didn't make any friends.

So, books became my friends. I could devour a chapter book in about a day by the time I was seven. I had heard about the Harry Potter books, because I was at the library at the time, but I didn't want to read them. I thought it was silly to do something that everyone else was doing (even then I wanted to be independent). My current obsession was Nancy Drew. I read all of those books, and I mean ALL of them.

Then, that Christmas (1999), my mom's friend sent me paperback copies of Sorcerer's Stone and Chamber of Secrets, because "that's what all the kids were reading". I was skeptical at first, and laid the books aside for about a week. As it happened, I ran out of Nancy Drews one day, and my dad wouldn't take me to the library.

Desperate for something to read, I reached for the abandoned Harry Potter books. I settled myself into my favorite spot on the couch, and opened Sorcerer's Stone. I was hooked from the first page, and I finished SS in record time, moving on to COS the very next day. I convinced my mother to buy me A hardcover copy of Prisoner of Azkaban, and I devoured that too.

So there you have it! That's my Harry Potter history, and I've been in love with Hp ever since. what's your story?

christmas activities

I've just finished making homemade pasta with my mum and sister, cause we do that every year on christmas! it tastes soooo good, even better than regular pasta from a box. here is what out pasta maker looks like, lol.

Anywayyyy...I feel like something of a hermit, considering I haven't left the house since...saturday? sunday? I'm not sure.
I have a feeling that that might we slightly unhealthy. oh well. I'll leave the house tonight for christmas eve mass at church.
Not my favorite activity, since we have to leave the house at like 3:30 if we even want a seat in the church. whatever. But, I do have
to figure out what i'm going to wear to church, which presets a whole new set of problems. How can I possibly dress so that

a) I don't freeze to death
b) I convey my own personal style while still looking "modest" enough that my mother lets me out of the house
c) my knees are not shown (I hate my knees)

same problem every year, ho hum.

the great art of procrastination

Somehow, over every school break I manage to put off absolutely everything I have to do until the last minute. If i told myself that this break is different, that would be a HUGE LIE. Here is what I should be doing instead of blogging:
*write an autobiographical poem in spanish (yeah right)
*write a stupid essay about the origin and interpretation of the word "secret" (have you ever heard of a shittier assignment?)
*do a four page biology study guide
*finish this book for english called "Their Eyes  Were Watching God". It's actually a pretty good book, but I suck at concentrating sometimes
*memorize my lines for "The Man Who Turned Into Stick". What a weird, weird play. eek.

However, instead I have been doing this:
*drawing pictures of the academy is, in crayon
*watching many, many, many youtube videos
*discovering new bands
*creating a flickr account
*baking cookies
*spilling hot cocoa on my favorite pants :[
*downloading every song ever recorded by the academy is...
*re-reading Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire for probably the 10th time
*writing this stupid blog that no one actually reads. ho hum.

so there you have it. blah.

maybe it's just "holiday cheer" or something, but i'm feeling particularly optimistic about life in general. I watched Love Actually last night, which is one of my favorite movies, and that definitely put me in a good mood. It was also the first night of hannukah last night, so we ate latkes and I got some new slippers as my first present :] I dunno...usually I'm not so cheerful...whatever
However, I am worried about memorizing my lines for my school's one act play competition. We're doing this play called The Man Who Turned Into a Stick...it's really weird, to say the least, and it's translated from japanese. I play "Women from Hell" ...

As a new user to live journal I'm not really sure what to post, so I'll make a list

currently watching: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=honLybT9Dcc&feature=channel_page

listening to: the academy is... (I usually am)

outraged that: taylor lautner won't be back for the new moon movie! not that I thought he was hot or anything, but I really liked him as jacob. also, catherine hardwick isn't directing new moon either! argg. read about this scandal here- http://twilightsource.com/
I'm also outraged that I have to take this awful class called STEM lab next semester. ugh. I hate science.

happy that: it's almost christmas/hannukah! (my family celebrates both...) I hope I get the new Beedle the Bard book!

anywayyy. more later i suppose :]
